Amalgame 2019

A Wine That

features a grape variety which is almost extinct, Petit Béclan. So, if you drink this, it's almost like experiencing a vinous dinosaur, except you're helping to save the dinosaurs. Raspberries, blackcurrants and a hint of earthy mushrooms... We have a special place in our hearts for this bottle.

Amalgame - 2019

Petit Béclan
Pinot Noir

Where and How?

This is a true rarity: a blend of Petit Béclan (very rare, ancient Jura variety), together with Gamay, Poulsard and Pinot Noir. A piece of ampelographic history!
The grapes were destemmed and cofermented naturally, before ageing in 300L barrels for 12 months.

The Winemaker: Allante & Boulanger

Christian Boulanger and Mathieu Allante's domaine in the Jura is one of the most exciting recent natural wineries to have splashed onto the scene. Based in Rotalier, the duo are just around the corner from Jean-François and Anne Ganevat. Previously, Christian worked with the Labet family for fifteen years, and now the two have set out on their own. They have been collecting several enviable small plots of old vines, including some with the very rare Petit Béclan grape variety. They make beautiful, elegant natural wines without added sulfites.
