Côte de Caillot — Chardonnay 2018
A Wine That
will please all Chardonnay lovers, and a wine that always reminds us why we love this grape so much. With no oaky flavours, this is rather about minerality and that haunting sea mist scent, with a twist of lemon rind. A total crowd-pleaser.

Where and How?
This comes from biodynamically farmed 25-year-old Chardonnay vines, planted on marl soils just outside of Pupillin, on very steep south facing soils. The wine fermented naturally in old barrels, and also underwent malolactic fermentation, giving it creaminess. Aged on the lees for 24 months giving extra complexity.
The Winemaker: Domaine de la Borde
The winemaker and farmer of Domaine de la Borde, Julien, came from a family of farmers, and always dreamed of having his own wine domaine. He managed to make this a reality already by the age of 21, when he bought his first vineyard plots in Pupillin. At the start, he also worked as a piano teacher in order to fund his fledgling winery. He now has five hectares of vines which he converted to biodynamics in 2012.
