A Wine That
should be on everyone's bucket list if you are looking for serious Pinot Noir. Thanks to super healthy vineyards and a great talent for treating the grapes as gentle as possible this wine feels like drinking a super delicate infusion of Pinot - almost like drinking an essence of an essence - it's a grape that is growing on Christian the longer he works it - pure limestone vineyards planted with 30 year old-vines give it that extra layer of class.

Where and How?
Brutal 2019 is a blend of three small plots of Pinot Noir in the village of Purbach, grown on the west shores of Lake Neusiedlersee in the northen part of Burgenland.
The vineyards are all closely surrounded by forest. The soil is pure chalky limestone mixed with a variety of gneiss and glimmerschist towards the upper part of the vineyards.
The grapes were macerated with the juice for two weeks, after which they were pressed very gently.
Aged in big Austrian foudres on the lees for at least ten months before being bottled unfined, unfiltered and without added sulphites.
The Winemaker: Christian Tschida
Christian Tschida is one of a kind. He might be renowned as one of the world's most cult natural winemakers, but when it comes down to it, he'd prefer not to talk about wine at all — rather art. For that's how to describe Christian's wines — these are playful-yet-serious interpretations of what Mother Nature gives him. His grapes are like watercolour, acrylic and graffiti interchanged from year to year.
