Himmel Auf Erden White 2019

£35.00

A Wine That

is like the 'Ground Zero' of Christian's world of wines. Some of his oldest vines of Pinot Blanc are blended with highly-aromatic Muskat and Muskateller grapes to give the wine a real lift. Think biting into fresh peaches and drinking an ice cold lemonade on a hot summer day all at once. Christian's wines always carry a brilliant balance of intensity and freshness. The kind of wines that leave you with more questions than answers.

Where and How?

Weissburgunder, Riesling, Muskat Ottonel and Gelber Muskateller are farmed organically on soils consisting of limestone, clay and quartz, found on the banks of the shallow, peaceful Lake Neusiedl.

The grapes are fermented on their skins for between two and four weeks in oak foudre, before then being aged for 12 months in foudre and barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, and no sulfites are added either.

The Winemaker: Christian Tschida

Christian Tschida is one of a kind. He might be renowned as one of the world's most cult natural winemakers, but when it comes down to it, he'd prefer not to talk about wine at all — rather art. For that's how to describe Christian's wines — these are playful-yet-serious interpretations of what Mother Nature gives him. His grapes are like watercolour, acrylic and graffiti interchanged from year to year.
