A Wine That
tastes like nothing we’ve ever had before, and we’re under its spell. Smitten's the word. Shimmering carmine in colour, with heightened perfumes of rosehip, raspberries and peonies, this is red and white wine merging in the most magical of ways. This is the kind of wine you’ll accidentally stick your nose into because you can’t get enough. Not that that happened to us or anything…

Where and How?
This wine comes from a small parcel of high elevation (750m), organically tended 90-year-old vines in Cobrana, Bierzo, planted on decomposing slate and red clay. Traditionally vines were coplanted here, with both white and black varieties. As such, Veronica coferments these varieties to pay homage to the region’s history. The wine was fermented naturally with whole bunches, after which it was pressed and aged in amphorae and old barrels for 13 months.
The Winemaker: Veronica Ortega
After a stint studying science—chemistry, to be precise—Verónica Ortega soon realised that it wasn’t the inside of a laboratory where she longed to spend her days. In fact, it was quite the opposite kind of scientific playground that she had in mind. Victoria didn’t grow up amongst winemakers. Her path to the vines was part and parcel (pun intended) thanks to a realisation that there was another type of chemical reaction that piqued her interest. After her first harvest in the magical vines of Priorat—under the esteemed guidance of Álvaro Palacios and Daphne Glorian, followed by time spent in Burgundy (at the mythical Domaine de la Romanée-Conti amongst others)—Veronica fell head over heels with the world of winemaking and, in her own words, “never went back to [her] place again. Just for the holidays!" Now that’s love.
