Crozes-Hermitage "Les Pins" 2018
A Wine That
shows that the Northern Rhône can be all about elegance. Without any new oak makeup here, this is Syrah in its birthday suit: just pure violet, blackcurrant and white pepper goodness. A rare wine that we're overjoyed to have in the bottle shop.

Where and How?
This is single vineyard Syrah, farmed organically by Dard and Ribo. The 40-year-old vines are planted on a steep hillside across from Pitrou, planted on granite.
The wine is fermented naturally with whole bunches, macerated gently for around fifteen days, after which it is aged in demi-muids and bottled in October or November the following year. A rare gem.
The Winemaker: Dard & Ribo
René-Jean Dard & François Ribo are the Sonny & Cher or Freddie Mercury & David Bowie of wine. They have farmed and made wine the way they believe it should be — naturally — since the 80s. Back then they were the only ones in their region, and opposition was fierce. It's not been an easy ride.
Now, they're an inspiration to a herd of younger eco-minded growers. Neither wine from the Rhône (nor indeed French wine in general) would be quite what it is today without this iconic double act.
