Franche Lippée Rouge 2020
A Wine That
had us head-over-heels on first sniff with its heavenly lavender and raspberry scents. This wine shows why SW France is one of the most exciting yet least explored areas of French wine, and we're psyched to have it land in our Bottle Shop. Want to surprise a fellow wine lover? This is your go-to.

Where and How?
This comes from biodynamically farmed (conversion began in 2018) Syrah, from Courrensan in the Gers region of South-West France.
1/3 of the Syrah grapes were destemmed, and the other 2/3 left as whole bunches. The wine underwent a semi-carbonic fermentation, being pressed after 13 days. It fermented naturally, and was aged in stainless steel. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The Winemaker: Domaine Jeandaugé
In 2012, this family estate decided to move away from conventional farming methods, and they have been working fully organically since 2018 (so in their last year of conversion), with the addition of biodynamic methods (following the lunar cycle, working with the compost preparation 500, and various herbal tea sprays, such as horsetail, comfrey and nettle). Sheep also graze the vineyards to act as natural lawn mowers. Their natural winemaking journey began in 2017, and we're so impressed by what they've already achieved — they are showing this little corner of SW France in a totally new light, and we can't wait to continue following their path.
