Morei — Teroldego 2019

A Wine That

shows the darker side of Teroldego (in a good way). Since it's from the vineyard with the most sun hours in the Piana Rotaliana region, it always develops a more gentle, round direction. If this wine was a piece of music, it would be a mix of mediative drum beats, long notes and pensive vocals. A wine to be enjoyed over hours.

Morei — Teroldego - 2019

Where and How?

The Morei is one of the new Foradori single vineyard cuvées. The grapes are grown biodynamically on the Campo Rotaliano plateau, a broad, flat, sunny, well-drained expanse of limestone-and-granite-rich vineyards tucked up at high altitude in the shadow of the Dolomites.
The grapes are destemmed and the wine is aged for eight months in amphorae on the skins.

The Winemaker: Foradori

Elisabetta Foradori is an institution in herself. A winemaking powerhouse. The OG keeper of the Teroldego grape, Elisabetta is largely responsible for the preservation and diversification of the variety.

These days, Foradori is a family affair. In recent years, Elisabetta was joined by sons Emilio and Theo (who LITTLEWINE spoke to for this article) and daughter Myrtha. They now help to run the estate and have brought to the table, as Elisabetta did back in 1984, a fresh perspective on biodynamics and permaculture, which enables the winery to keep on evolving—just as it has done since 1934.
