Pet Nat 2019
A Wine That
stands for Markus' thirst for experiments and trying out new things where ever he can! In 2018 Markus kept back a small amount of his delicious 'Skins and Stones' white to blend with the fermenting grape juice of his 2019 harvest. The result was a grown-up, naturally carbonated version of his skin contact blend - packed with flavours of citrus orange peel - almost like drinking orange lemonade on a hot summer day. We are not joking when we say drink this with breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Where and How?
This wine is based on the same set of grapes like Markus' 'Skins and Stones' skin-contact cuvée. Sauvignon Blanc, Muskat Ottonel, Traminer, Neuburger, Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling from vintage 2018 are blended with fermenting grape juice of 2019 and finish fermentation in bottle. No disgorgement and no addition of sulphur.
The Winemaker: Markus Altenburger
Every now and then you meet a winemaker who approaches wine from a completely different angle. These are the people who make you subconsciously cock your head to one side while getting lost in thought.
One of these people is Markus Altenburger. From the way he describes how a vine interacts with its environment in an easy, matter of fact manner, to his pragmatic thinking behind skin-contact white wine, Markus has a logical explanation for everything. It’s a logic you also find in the wine, but that’s not to say they’re simple ‘tick box’ wines.
Rather, these are rubix cube wines: you need to take some time to get to know them.
