Sous la Roche — Pinot Noir 2018

£32.00

A Wine That

feels like a gift to us from the wine gods... Now that fine Burgundy has become so expensive, the fact that we have the neighbouring region's beautiful natural examples of Pinot Noir gives us a big smile! Think pine cones, cherries and fresh soil... A delight.

Where and How?

This comes from biodynamically farmed Pinot Noir vines planted on red marl soils, facing southwest.
The grapes were partially destemmed and underwent a maceration period of around 15 days. The wine fermented naturally, and aged in old barrels.

The Winemaker: Domaine de la Borde

The winemaker and farmer of Domaine de la Borde, Julien, came from a family of farmers, and always dreamed of having his own wine domaine. He managed to make this a reality already by the age of 21, when he bought his first vineyard plots in Pupillin. At the start, he also worked as a piano teacher in order to fund his fledgling winery. He now has five hectares of vines which he converted to biodynamics in 2012.
