Côte de Feule — Ploussard 2018

A Wine That

embodies that word we all chase in red wine — ethereal. Light as a feather, translucent in colour, yet full of haunting, earthy, forest-like aromas... this is the kind of wine that you can't help but stare at... while you wonder how grape juice can possibly create something like this.

Ploussard Côte de Feule - 2018

Where and How?

This comes from biodynamically farmed Poulsard vines on red marl soils, on Triassic limestone, facing south on very steep slopes (35% incline).
The grapes were destemmed, and a prefermentation maceration period of two days took place at cool temperatures. Maceration took place for 20 days, infusion style. The wine was then aged for ten months in old oak barrels, and was bottled unfined, unfiltered, without added sulfites.

The Winemaker: Domaine de la Borde

The winemaker and farmer of Domaine de la Borde, Julien, came from a family of farmers, and always dreamed of having his own wine domaine. He managed to make this a reality already by the age of 21, when he bought his first vineyard plots in Pupillin. At the start, he also worked as a piano teacher in order to fund his fledgling winery. He now has five hectares of vines which he converted to biodynamics in 2012.
