Soleyane Rouge 2020

A Wine That

is to be shared among friends - it's a "vin des copains", as winemaker Mathieu Apffel likes to say about this cuvée. It is a duet of Mondeuse and Pinot Noir playing tunes of forest fruits, clove and spicy high notes. It's a mineral red wine to accompany joyful conversations, large plates of roasted vegetables, or a big BBQ day outdoors. Serve it slightly chilled and keep exploring the wine as it unfolds in the glass.

Soleyane Rouge - 2020

Pinot Noir

Where and How?

This is a blend of Mondeuse (85%) and Pinot Noir (15%) grown on the clay-limestone hillsides of the Rhône river, at the gates of Bugey. The wine was macerated whole-bunch style for two weeks with very gentle extraction; just like an infusion. The wine then aged in a combination of oak and stainless steel tanks, and was bottles unfiltered and without additional sulphur.

The Winemaker

Camille & Mathieu Apffel have been tending their own vines in Savoie since 2018. They make wines that are gentle, subtle and nuanced and bring the mountainous slopes and native varieties into the glass.
