Village Pinot Noir 2020
A Wine That
has glimmers of sunshine merged with buckets of freshness, like the wine version of a blue-skied spring morning. With spice and a crunchy texture, this is elegant, juicy and moreish with savoury undertones. It might be juicy, but that doesn’t make it any less serious. This is a food wine - for dinner parties and chatting into the wee hours.

- Winemaker: Gentle Folk
Where and How?
This is a blend of all the Gentle Folk estate vineyards, farmed organically with some biodynamic methods in the Adelaide Hills. The 2020 vintage is 60% from the Norton Summit vineyard, 15% from Little Creek, 10% from Piccadilly, and 15% from Scary Gully. The vineyards are situated between 500m and 620m, bringing freshness, and planted on sandstone, quartz and schist soils.
The 2020 vintage was fermented naturally in open top fermenters, and aged for eight months in old French oak barrels and puncheons, 10% of which were new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The Winemaker: Gentle Folk
A tasting with some of the region’s well-known natural wine pioneers saw Gareth hooked, and before he knew it, he was up at 5am in a truck with James Erskine to go and harvest throughout the hills. He never looked back. Gentle Folk was born.
They are known for their smashable, moreish Rainbow Juice and Vin de Sofa, which took the natural wine world by storm. More recently, they’ve turned their sights to fine tuning their single vineyard Pinots and Chardonnays.
One dream still remains. To make the equivalent of lunchtime Chianti. It’s a dream that’s not too far off… and one that will collide with Vin de Sofa.
