Viura '4 Caminos' 2019

A Wine That

shows what Rioja can do in terms of skin contact. A light orange wine, this is all about zestiness — think lemon rind, orange rind, all of the citrus. The extra tannic structure the wine gets from the skin contact means this is a delight to pair with food, especially spicy dishes.

Orange & Skins

Where and How?

This Viura skin contact wine comes from the Rioja Alta part of the region, north of the Ebro River. The vineyards are 40 years old, and sit between 450m and 650m elevation, and are southerly exposed. They are farmed biodynamically.
The grapes underwent skin contact with the juice for a few days, giving a light style of orange wine. After pressing, the wine was aged in stainless steel.

The Winemaker: Bodegas Moraza

The vast and rural Spanish region of Rioja is home to some of Spain’s most famous wines. Due to its immense success on the international market, it’s also become known for a very particular style of wine; often quite ripe with oak influence. But there are growers in the region who are determined to create something unique; something that stands out from the crowd. Bodegas Moraza is one of these domaines, led by the talented Janire Moraza (who goes by Julia). Julia wants to do things her way, to best express the terroirs of her area, San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in Rioja Alta.
